As a 牙科 assistant, you can perform a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties. Learn to examine and treat patients as you work chair side directly with the dentist.

These include placing 牙科 restorations under the direct supervision of a dentist, as well as additional duties described by the PA 状态 牙科 Practice Act. The 牙科 assistant program also prepares students to assist the dentist chairside. The program prepares students to work in the operatory or treatment room with the dentist. The chairside 牙科 assistant mixes and prepares 牙科 impression and restorative materials, 清除口腔内的杂物和外来物质, and prepares the operatory for procedures including instrument tray and anesthesia set-ups as required by the dentist.

The chairside assistant exposes, processes and mounts 牙科 radiographs (x-rays). The expanded function 牙科 assistant may perform some 牙科 laboratory procedures within the office and is often the person responsible for infection control and sterilization requirements as set forth in government regulations and guidelines.
